~ FAQ ~
Frequently Asked Questions ~
We're often
asked if we ever hear from any of the Survivor contestants
themselves. We're happy to report that we do, we've heard from a
number of them and keep in fairly regular touch with a few. Rest
assured we do our level best to give them all a hard time, if not
run them off entirely ~ though we readily admit it's always a kick seeing a
Survivor's name in the 'ol eMail box.
Before you ask, we state up front that we don't divulge
the Survivors' eMail addresses. They're afforded to us in
confidence, a confidence we must respect unconditionally. The
contestants would be snowed under with eMail if their addresses were made
public, something we won't be a party to.
As a matter of fact we get more than our share of eMail
ourselves, from you the visitors to our sites. Your messages are read &
appreciated, though the volume we receive prevents us from
responding to much of it personally. We hope this FAQ answers other
questions you may be asking.
Q:
"How can I contact a Survivor contestant?"
A:
A very
popular question and our answer is always the same. First, many of
the Survivors have their own Official Websites or homepages, which
usually include contact info. We list Official Websites and homepages
on each contestant's Links page. And second, we have it on good
authority that all Survivor
contestants receive letters mailed to them in care of CBS. We
can't guarantee a reply, but if you put your return address on the envelope and
it isn't returned, then your chances are pretty good it went through.

Q:
"Is it possible to hire a former Survivor for an appearance?"
A: You bet
it is ~ assuming of course that you represent a legitimate occasion that
might be enhanced by a Survivor in attendance. Many former
castaways are available, and are represented by various talent agencies and
speakers' bureaus. One easy source for current Agency contact information for
the Survivor contestants is the CBS switchboard at: (212)975-4321.
Q:
"How do I apply to be a Survivor
contestant?"
A: Your best
bet here is to keep an eye on the official CBS website for any mention of
contestant applications. In the past, the Survivor application
periods have been clearly posted on the CBS homepage, and once the
floodgates were opened for audition tapes the application periods didn't
last terribly long. Either way though be ready to vie with 50,000 or more other
applicants for one of just sixteen openings, meaning that for each
applicant chosen, over 3,000 audition tapes wind up in the dumpster.
Stiff odds from the get-go, and now with talk of a possible 'Survivor:
Celebrity Edition', the number of non-Celebrity Survivor openings
may be extremely limited going forth.
Q:
"How long has SurvivorFoxes/SurvivorHunks been online?"
A:
SurvivorFoxes.com & SurvivorHunks.com were both launched in the fall of 2001, coinciding with Survivor 3:
Africa's debut on CBS. SurvivorFoxes & SurvivorHunks
are the result
of some cool folks (that would be us) who saw a need for a couple of
good Survivor contestant sites and proceeded to fill it. Yes we throw
some ads at you, but otherwise our sites are
entirely free for everyone's use and enjoyment. We particularly
appreciate all of you who click our sponsors' banners and visit their
websites to learn more about their wares. No losers here, everybody
wins.
Q: "Are SurvivorFoxes.com
& SurvivorHunks.com for sale?"
A: We're
having a lot of fun with our Survivor sites,
which have been wonderfully popular and are actually turning a profit
with MaxOnline,
FastClick,
and other affiliate contracts in place. On the other hand, feel free
to make us an offer we can't refuse...
And
finally, our 'catch-all-answer' to 'all-other-questions'!:
A: Sorry
but NO. . . we don't have Oprah's fax number, we don't have the cellphone
numbers of any of the girls who weren't selected on The Bachelor, we
won't ask Jerri to sign your Playboy cover,
we don't go out on a limb for charities we've never heard of,
we can't get you an audience before the Pope or the
President, and we can't get you tickets to Saturday Night Live or
Win Ben Stein's Money. If we missed anything, same answer.
