Ghandia Johnson lasted a dozen days during
Survivor 5 Thailand and was the fourth
castaway to get the boot. But she made
the most of her short stint ~ boy did she
ever ~ putting a stamp on Survivor
that will never be forgotten.
Without taking sides as to what did or didn't
transpire, suffice it to say that Ghandia's
Survivor performance was diminished
by ~ even tarnished by ~ the age-old battle
of the sexes. In the real world,
inappropriate language and unwelcome
physical contact between men & women can be
a matter of genuine concern. But on a
reality TV show with cameras rolling, 250
crewmembers bounding about, and one million
dollars in cash on the line ~ well, it
probably isn't the time or place to tear out
a page from a Gloria Steinham manual and
strike the gong for women's rights!
To her everlasting credit though, Ghandia recognized
her tactical misplay as the root of her
undoing, and left the island with her head
high and her dignity intact. |
