Helen Glover of Survivor 5
Thailand played to win, and nearly
pulled it off. She plotted an
especially smart course, was neither overly
devious nor overly demanding, benefited now
and again from sheer good fortune ~ and was
ousted on day 36. We suspect that had
she been one of the last two standing, she'd
have won the jury vote hands down.
Because of her Will Rogers-like wit, here at
SurvivorFoxes.com we took a shine to Helen
early on, and found ourselves rooting for
her down the stretch. Unfortunately
our karma wasn't enough, the game played out
its own way, and Helen placed fourth.
Yet the memories will linger ~ of her incessant
recipe-rattling. Of her husband's
insect-gobbling, which earned him a night on
the island as a guest castaway. And of
her frustration-driven quip about Jan that
instantly became an all-time Survivor classic:
"At one point if I'd had a pistol in my
pocket I would have pulled it out, shot her
first, shot me second. That's why I
don't carry a gun." Note to Helen:
just walk softly and carry a big stick. |
