For Linda Spencer Survivor 3 was a
whole lot more than just a game show with
a million-dollar prize, it was a once in a
lifetime opportunity to tune into the
esoteric melodies of 'Mother Africa', from
whose kettle drum all of mankind may have
been spawned. Not a moment went by
without her pausing to reflect on such
wondrous things as karma, spirituality,
and the personification of the jungle
environment that surrounded them. In
the end she found no converts to her
ethereal notions, but it was certainly
entertaining watching her proselytize.
When a chasm the
width of Mother Kenya itself split her
tribe in half, and with the numbers
stacked against her, Linda had nothing to
lose but her marbles. Want to see
good theater on television? Rewind
the tape of Linda showing Lindsey the
value of a warm hug ~ a gesture not
especially well-received by Lindsey!
And while it may have led to Linda's
ouster, she played the game her own way,
she went out in style, and though she
didn't last long, she may well have taken
more away from Mother Africa than all the
other contestants combined.
